ScribbleCam — Privacy Policy

ScribbleCam is made by Hilarious Hyenas. We built ScribbleCam to be private by default: the app turns your photos into deliberately terrible art, and almost everything it does happens entirely on your device. This page explains exactly what leaves your device, when, and why — in plain language.

Short version: Free styles never leave your phone. The only time a photo leaves your device is when you choose a Premium style — then that one photo is sent to be redrawn, used for nothing else, and deleted shortly after. We have no accounts, no tracking, no ads, and we never sell your data.

What we collect

Nothing, for the free experience. The free ("Basic") styles run completely on your device using Apple's on-device frameworks. No photo, and no information about you or your phone, is sent anywhere when you use them. There is no network connection involved at all.

We do not collect: your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, advertising identifiers, or analytics about how you use the app.

The one exception — Premium styles

ScribbleCam offers optional Premium styles that redraw your photo from scratch using a hosted image-generation model. These are the only feature that uses the internet. When — and only when — you choose a Premium style and confirm ("Draw it"):

• The single photo you selected is sent over an encrypted connection through our own server to our image-generation provider (OpenAI's image model) for the sole purpose of producing that one drawing.
• The result is sent straight back to your device. Our server keeps no copy of your photo or the result after the request finishes.
• Your photo is not used to train AI models. Our provider processes it only to create the drawing and, under their API data-usage terms, retains it only briefly for abuse monitoring before deleting it.
• A random, per-installation identifier (Apple's "identifier for vendor") is sent with the request only to enforce a fair daily limit per device and to prevent abuse of the service. It is not linked to your identity, and it changes if you delete and reinstall the app.

We never send your photo anywhere for any other purpose, and we never send any of the free styles' output off the device.

Your photos and the Photos app

• ScribbleCam only adds an image to your system Photos library when you explicitly tap Save to Photos. It never reads or scans your photo library — it only receives the single image you pick, and only when you pick one.
• Images you keep in ScribbleCam's own in-app gallery are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded. They stay until you delete them, and are removed if you uninstall the app.

Tracking, advertising, and third parties

ScribbleCam contains no analytics, no advertising, no third-party tracking SDKs, and no social logins. We do not share data with any third party except the image-generation provider described above, and then only the single photo you chose to send, only to draw it.

Children

ScribbleCam is family-friendly and does not require an account or collect personal information. If a child uses the Premium feature, the only data sent is the photo they chose to redraw, handled exactly as described above.

Data retention and your control

• On your device: photos you save stay on your device until you delete them (in the app gallery) or remove them from Photos. Uninstalling ScribbleCam deletes its in-app gallery.
• Off your device: only the transient Premium-redraw request described above, which our server does not retain and our provider deletes after brief abuse monitoring.

Security

Premium requests are made over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. The keys to our image-generation provider live only on our server, never in the app.

Changes to this policy

If we change how ScribbleCam handles your data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected before the new behaviour ships in the app.
